The Ohio Community College Athletic Association (OCCAC) has named Edison State Community College freshman guard Hadith Tiggs the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for January 23-29.
Despite the Chargers losing twice last week, Hadith Tiggs (Wayne HS) averaged 22.5 points on 17-for-27 shooting along with nine rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game last week for Edison State.
In a 94-69 loss to Cincinnati State, Tiggs had 22 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one steal. Then, in an 81-76 loss at Sinclair, he had 23 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
The freshman guard is now averaging 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.9 steals per game this year for Edison State (11-8, 1-7 OCCAC). In conference play, he is averaging a team-high 14.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and one steal per game. His team will be back in action Wednesday at home against Lorain County.
The selection of Tiggs represents the first player of the week award for Edison State men's basketball this season after Malik Thurman (Feb. 7, Dec. 13) and Cody May (Nov. 29) won it last year.
