Lady Chargers Pull Away in Second Half to Defeat Mott 71-50

After trailing 17-13 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Chargers responded with a decisive 21-8 run in the second quarter to take a 34-25 lead into halftime. Edison State continued to build momentum in the second half, outscoring Mott 15-7 in the third quarter and 22-18 in the fourth to secure the win.
Sophomore Rylie Homan led all scorers with a season-high 25 points on an efficient 9-of-11 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. Homan also added nine steals, five rebounds, and three assists to round out her performance. Presley Reese recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Emma Will contributed 11 points. Sadie Larrabee added eight points and six rebounds off the bench.
Edison State's defense played a key role in the victory, forcing 28 turnovers and recording 22 steals as a team. The Lady Chargers also shot 85.7% from the free-throw line and controlled the tempo throughout the second half.
Ryleigh Zinn led Mott with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Isabelle Bernthal added 10 points and eight boards.
With the win, Edison State improves to 9-5 on the season. The Lady Chargers look to build on their momentum as they continue non-conference play on Friday, January 9, at 6 p.m. against the University of Northwestern Ohio JV.
