Lady Chargers Fall to Macomb 75-63 in Hard-Fought Game
Edison State drops to 2-2 despite strong efforts from Walker and Will
The Edison State Community College women's basketball team suffered its second loss of the season on Tuesday, November 12, falling 75-63 to Macomb Community College at home.
Macomb (2-1) shot a blistering 54.7% from the field and controlled the game throughout, building leads in each quarter to hand the Lady Chargers their first home loss of the season.
Walker, Will Lead Lady Chargers
Despite the loss, Edison State received strong individual performances from its backcourt.
Emerson Walker led the Lady Chargers with 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting, adding seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals in 38 minutes of action. Walker's aggressive play kept Edison State competitive throughout the contest.
Emma Will contributed 14 points while pulling down a team-high seven rebounds, including two offensive boards. Will played all 34 minutes and added two assists to her stat line.
Presley Reese added 10 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Rylie Homan battled for six points and seven rebounds, including six on the defensive glass.
Jaela Johnson provided a spark off the bench with four points, including going 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Shooting Struggles
The game's decisive factor proved to be shooting efficiency. Edison State shot just 36.4% from the field (28-of-77) and struggled mightily from three-point range, connecting on only 1-of-14 attempts (7.1%). The Lady Chargers also converted just 6-of-13 free throws (46.2%).
In contrast, Macomb shot 54.7% from the field, including 5-of-12 from three-point range (41.7%), and made 12-of-15 free throws (80.0%). The Monarchs' hot shooting, particularly in the second and fourth quarters, proved to be too much for the Lady Chargers to overcome.
Game Flow
Macomb set the tone early, taking a 20-13 lead after the first quarter before extending it to 42-35 at halftime. The Monarchs maintained control throughout the second half, outscoring Edison State 35-28 after intermission to secure the 12-point victory.
The Lady Chargers were unable to mount a significant rally, as Macomb's balanced scoring and efficient shooting kept them at bay. Edison State's 19 turnovers also proved costly, as the Monarchs converted those mistakes into transition opportunities.
