In game one, the Lady Chargers were led by a dominant outing in the circle from Marissa Pine, who tossed a complete-game one-hitter while striking out 13 batters. Pine set the tone early and never let Owens find any rhythm at the plate.
Offensively, Edison State broke things open with a five-run third inning. Jenna Dirksen led the charge with a three-run home run, while Taylor Bauer added a triple as part of a balanced offensive attack. The Lady Chargers finished with eight hits and capitalized on defensive miscues to secure the shutout.
Game two saw more of the same, as Edison State's offense exploded for 13 runs on 13 hits. The Lady Chargers jumped out early with six runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Zoey Hodge was impressive both in the circle and at the plate. She earned the win, allowing just one unearned run while striking out nine, and added three RBIs offensively. Abigail Kadel contributed a strong performance with two hits and two RBIs, while Taylor Bauer continued her hot day at the plate with three hits.
Edison State showcased depth throughout the lineup, with multiple players contributing to both games, highlighting the team's offensive consistency and pitching strength.
With the sweep, the Lady Chargers are now 7-3 overall and 2-0 in OCCAC. Next up is versus conference opponent Cuyahoga on Sunday, March 22, at 1 and 3 p.m.
