The Lady Chargers Face Lakeland and UC Clermont Over the Weekend

Edison State Community College's softball team traveled to Lakeland Community College on Friday, March 18, to play their first league games of the year. The first game was close, 6-4 going into the bottom of the sixth when Lakeland scored seven runs to win 13-4. Sidney Unger (Tipp City) had two hits in game one. In game two, Edison State rallied and took the lead in the top of the seventh inning, but with one out in the bottom of the seventh, the game was suspended with the Lady Chargers leading 8-5. The game will be finished when Lakeland comes to Edison State. That date is TBD. Nyesha Wright (Greenville) hit three home runs in the second game, including a three-run homer, to take the lead in the top of the seventh. Kayla Runyon (Tipp City) had two hits as well.
On Sunday, the Lady Chargers were supposed to travel to UC Clermont, but due to wet conditions, the games were played at Edison State. The Lady Chargers won both games 19-1 and 10-2. In game one, Grace Shaffer (Greenville) was the winning pitcher. Runyon had two hits, as did Allie Dodge (Wayne) and Unger, who had four RBIs also. In game two, Dodge was the winning pitcher and Runyon hit a Grand Slam. Morgan Pine (Graham) had three hits for the Lady Chargers. MacKenleigh Greene (Fairbanks) and Layne Claudy (Greenville) had two hits in game two.
The Lady Chargers, who are now 5-6-1, will host the University of Dayton Club Team on Friday, March 25, in a DH starting at 4:15.
