Cuyahoga Community College Nearly Erases 7-Run Deficit in Loss to Edison State

Edison State Community College built a seven-run lead in the third inning and then held off Cuyahoga Community College's charge for a 9-7 victory on Friday. Cuyahoga Community College scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Rizzo in the fourth, a single by Cassandra Fredrick in the fifth, and a single by Kaila Sense in the fifth. 

Mackenzie Smith collected four hits in four at-bats to help lead the Lady Chargers to victory. Smith doubled in the first, doubled in the first, singled in the third, and singled in the fifth.

Alexis Romine got the win for Edison State, surrendering seven runs on 19 hits over seven innings, striking out three.

Brooke Crider took the loss for Cuyahoga Community College. She surrendered seven runs on seven hits over two-thirds of an inning, walking one.

Edison State tallied 17 hits on the day. Mackenzie SmithAdrianna Hicks, Alexis RomineHannah Oaks, and Maddy White each had multiple hits for Edison State Community College Chargers Varsity. Smith led Edison State Community College Chargers Varsity with four hits in four at-bats. Edison State didn't commit a single error in the field. Romine had six chances in the field, the most on the team. 

Cuyahoga Community College scattered 19 hits in the game. Rizzo, Fredrick, Megan Mulhan, Lexi Rhem, Daniele Rivera, and Sense each racked up multiple hits for Cuyahoga Community College. Rizzo went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Cuyahoga Community College in hits.
