As the men's and women's basketball teams wrapped up their regular seasons, the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference named five Edison State Community College student-athletes recipients of postseason awards for the 2025-26 season.
The OCCAC named freshman Malcolm Curry to the All-OCCAC First Team. The 6-foot-1-inch guard from Huber Heights averaged 17.7 points per game, along with a total of 62 assists and 17 steals, in conference play. Curry also landed a spot on the NJCAA All-District and All-Region Teams.
"Malcolm performed at a high level for the Chargers from the start of the year," said Head Men's Basketball Coach Kyle Vanover. "He was a team captain and showed excellent leadership and represented Edison State well. Malcolm led the team in scoring at 18 points a game. We look forward to having him back next year to see his growth as both a player and a person."
Freshmen Frank Latham and Darian Leslie both claimed spots on the All-OCCAC Second Team.
Latham, a 6-foot-4-inch forward from Cincinnati, averaged 14.4 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game in conference action.
"Frank's growth as a player was impressive to see," Vanover said. "He was a dominant force on the glass and scoring, averaging 15 points and eight rebounds a game overall. We are fortunate to have him back as his game continues to develop."
A 5-foot-10-inch guard from Dayton, Leslie averaged 15.5 points per game, along with a total of 52 assists and 19 steals, in conference play.
Vanover said, "Darian finished just under 18 points per game overall. His ability to create a shot was the best in our league. He was excellent at setting up his teammates as well. His maturity on the court was very instrumental to our successful year."
Additionally, the OCCAC named Vanover Coach of the Year, who finished his eighth season leading the Chargers.
"This recognition is a true testament to Coach Vanover's unwavering commitment to excellence—both on the court and in the lives of these student-athletes," said Edison State Athletics Director Justin McCulla. "He has built a culture of hard work, integrity, and winning, and this honor reflects exactly the kind of program we are proud to stand behind. He couldn't be more deserving of this recognition."
From the women's basketball team, the OCCAC selected Presley Reese, of Jackson Center, for the All-OCCAC First Team. Reese, a 5-foot-10-inch freshman forward, averaged 15.3 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game in conference action. She also landed a spot on the NJCAA All-District and All-Region Teams.
"Presley had an outstanding freshman year! She led us in scoring and second in rebounding," said Head Women's Basketball Coach Tim McMahon. "First team all-league and first team all-region is a great accomplishment, and we can't wait to see what next year brings. Presley has a bright future ahead of her."
The OCCAC named sophomore Rylie Homan to the All-OCCAC Second Team. The 5-foot-6-inch guard from Trenton averaged 10.5 points per game, along with a total of 63 assists and 30 steals, in conference play. Homan joins Reese on the NJCAA All-Region Team.
"Rylie was the best point guard in the league," McMahon said. "For the last two years, she led in assists and steals. Rylie is headed to Florida to play for two more years. It's a testament to her hard work. She will be hard to replace, and we will miss her."
The Chargers finished their season 20-8 overall and 14-2 in the conference, making an appearance in the Great Lakes District B semifinals. The Lady Chargers ended the season 18-11 overall and 6-6 in the OCCAC, with an appearance in the Great Lakes District C semifinals.
