The Chargers improved to 2-1 on the season with the road win.
Curry was nearly unstoppable, shooting 9-for-15 from the field and 9-for-10 from the free-throw line. The sophomore guard also contributed eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 35 minutes of action.
"Malcolm was tremendous tonight," said Edison State Head Coach Kyle Vanover. "He made big plays when we needed them most, especially down the stretch."
Edison State received balanced contributions throughout the lineup. Frank Lathem recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, including seven offensive boards that provided crucial second-chance opportunities. Darian Leslie added 17 points with efficient 6-for-13 shooting, while Daviyon McDonald controlled the paint with 10 rebounds and two blocked shots to go along with six points.
The Chargers shot 42.9% from the field (27-63) and converted 27 of 37 free throws (73.0%). Edison State dominated the boards with a 42-37 rebounding advantage, including 18 offensive rebounds that led to multiple scoring chances.
Chylan Ingram provided a spark off the bench with four points and four rebounds, while Marquise Long chipped in two points and two rebounds in limited minutes.
Edison State's defense tightened in the overtime period, holding Wayne County to limited scoring opportunities while the Chargers pulled away for the 11-point victory.
The win marks Edison State's second victory of the season after they dropped a close 94-86 match to Parkland College on November 5. The Chargers opened the season with a dominating 100-72 victory over Kellogg Community College.
Edison State returns to action on Wednesday, November 12, at 7:30 p.m. when they host Macomb Community College on their home court.
