Edison State Men Lose Close Road Match

The Edison State Men's basketball team fell short on the road Wednesday evening as they traveled to Owens Community College.

The favored 13-5 Owens Express was stunned out of the gate as the Chargers came to play taking an early 17-4 lead forcing 2 timeouts by their opponent.

"We talk a lot about the attitude and passion in which we take the floor and I was extremely proud of the effort of our young men," coach Hickman commented.

Owens fought back little by little and had whittled the lead to 1 by intermission trailing 38-39. In the second half, the Chargers were able to extend their lead early by as much as 8 points, but it was the deep 3 point shooting of 6'5" Derrick Jamerson who went 6 of 8 from 28-30 feet away. Down the stretch trailing by 5, the Charger's hopes of an Owens missed free throw was squelched as the Express extended the final score to 83-74.

Hadith Tiggs (Wayne HS) led in the scoring column tonight with 21 points and 7 boards. Dae'Shawn Jackson (Springfield HS) followed with 19 points and 7 rebounds of his own. Dusty Poteet gave the Chargers a double-double this evening scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 boards. The Chargers are now 10-5 on the season. 

The Chargers will return home Friday, January 20th to take on Wright State University–Lake Campus at 7:30 p.m.

Charger Country Alumni Night

The Edison State Community College Alumni Association along with Edison State President Dr. Doreen Larson invite all Edison State Alumni to attend the first Charger Country Alumni Night before and during the January 20th men's home basketball game versus Wright State University–Lake Campus.

All Edison State Alumni who pre-register to attend the Charger Country Alumni Night will receive free admittance to the game, pre-game food and drink, and a gift. The Charger Country pre-game runs from 6:30–7:30 p.m. with the men's game immediately following.
