Game One: Lakeland 11, Edison State 7
In a high-scoring opener, the Chargers battled hard but fell short 11-7.
Lakeland jumped out early with a two-run first inning, but Edison State responded immediately as Jackson Clark delivered an RBI single and Karson Adkins followed with a run-scoring double to even the game.
The Chargers took a 4-3 lead in the second inning when Parker Shannon drove in a run with a single. However, Lakeland answered in the third inning with five runs to take control, capitalizing on timely hitting and a key defensive miscue.
Adkins led Edison State offensively with three RBIs, while Shannon and Marcus O'Neal each recorded two hits. The Chargers showed patience at the plate with seven walks and aggressiveness on the bases, stealing five bases in the contest.
Game Two: Edison State 14, Lakeland 12
The Chargers responded in game two, holding off a late rally to secure a 14-12 victory.
After falling behind early, Edison State battled back to take the lead in the third inning before breaking the game open with a seven-run fourth inning. Tyler Raker highlighted the inning with a bases-clearing triple, while Adkins, Trey Davis, Josiah Jackson, and Shannon each contributed RBIs.
Kaid Runyon paced the offense with three hits, including two doubles, while Raker and Runyon each drove in three runs. Shannon added two hits and recorded the save.
Lakeland mounted a dramatic comeback attempt, scoring seven runs in the seventh inning to cut into a nine-run deficit, but Edison State held on to secure the win.
Breyton Reisinger earned the victory on the mound, with relief appearances from JJ Ellis and Shannon helping close out the game.
Edison State concludes its regular season with the split.
