Twenty-Seven Student-Athletes Named to OCCAC All-Academic Team
Twenty-seven student-athletes from Edison State Community College have received Academic All-Conference honors from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) for the Spring 2024 semester. To qualify, a student-athlete must have completed at least 12 credit hours with a 3.30 GPA.

"Our student-athletes continue to show focus and resiliency in their academic pursuits," said Justin McCulla, Director of Athletics. "Commitment, determination, and dedication are words we talk about around the teams, and we're proud of their strong focus in the classroom as each student-athlete prepares for their future every day. While academic success earned them a spot on the OCCAC All-Academic Team, it's important to note that among the best students in the classroom are our best student-athletes."
Representing the men's basketball team in academic excellence is Devonte Curry, Columbus.
From the women's basketball team, Dana Evans (4.0), Batavia; Allison Hughes, Rockford; Paxton Hunley (4.0), Conover; and Taj Pewett, Cincinnati, earned honors.
Brooklyn Bourne (4.0), Celina; Abigail Jenkins, Bellefontaine; Taylor Lessing, Sidney; Mackenzie Singer (4.0), New Weston; and Kyra Vermillion, Lima, represent the volleyball team in academic excellence.
Ten members of the baseball team earned honors: Drew Boyle, Germantown; Luke Brockman (4.0), Southgate, Kentucky; Eli Donnan, Troy; Caleb Lambdin (4.0), Cincinnati; Damian Lopez, Carolina, Puerto Rico; Bladin Malone, Shelbyville, Kentucky; Nathan Mentzel, Mount Carmel; Austin Montz, Centerville; Ben Randall (4.0), Land O' Lakes, Florida; and Dylan Sanders, Fort Loramie.
Kaycie Albers, Minster; Alison Cox, North Lewisburg; Allison Davis, Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Audrey Fyffe, Springfield; Kaela May, Tipp City; Elise McCann (4.0), Troy; Jaycee Taylor (4.0), Hamilton; and Kyra Vermillion, Lima, represent the softball team in academic excellence.
"I'm struck by how impressive our student-athletes are," McCulla said. "Whether through teamwork on the field, the court, or in the classrooms, our student-athletes are working together every day to reach new levels of achievement."
Edison State Community College is one of 13 participating members of the OCCAC. The College also competes in Region XII as a Division II member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball, and volleyball.
