Lady Chargers Win at Home; Sophomores Honored
The lady Chargers took a five-game win on Wednesday, October 20th at home against the Cincinnati Surge.
The Lady Chargers of Edison State Community College defeated Cincinnati State Surge on Wednesday, October 20th at home in five games.
The evening began with special recognition of the four Edison State sophomores: Teresa Hess, Tasha Potts, Allie Watkins, and Brianna Wells. "All four sophomores have been a crucial part of the team and the athletic program at Edison State," said Head Coach, Shelby Pitsenbarger.
Following the recognition, the Lady Chargers quickly went to work against the Lady Surge, winning the first game 25-22. However, the Lady Chargers dropped the second match with a score of 19-25.
The entire match was a back and forth battle between the two teams. Edison State won the third match but lost the fourth match with scores of 25-22 and 11-25, respectively.
The match came down to the fifth game where Edison State took control early to win 15-10. With five hard-fought games, the Lady Chargers won on sophomore night against the Lady Surge.
Stat Leaders of the game included, Allie Watkins with 12 assists, 17 digs, and 2 aces; Tasha Potts with 29 digs; Teresa Hess with 6 kills, 1 ace, 12 digs, and 1 block; Brianna Wells with 9 kills, 6 digs, and 1 block; Kasey Helmstetter with 12 kills; and Denise Schwieterman with 11 kills.
The Lady Chargers will play two more home matches this season.
