Edison State pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning when Kacie Tackett doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run, Mackenzie Smith tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, an error scored one run for Edison State, and Wendy Hawk singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Alexis Romine was the winning pitcher for the Lady Chargers. She surrendered two runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.
McLeod took the loss for the University of Northwestern Ohio. She lasted four innings, allowing 13 hits and 16 runs while striking out two.
