Edison State Community College won the contest against Lakeland Community College on Saturday, 10-5.
Lakeland Community College took an early lead in the second inning when Ely Miller doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Edison State took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Wendy Hawk homered on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs.
Maddy Collier took the win for Edison State, surrendering five runs on 13 hits over seven innings, striking out one and walking one.
Teyah Sautter took the loss for Lakeland Community College. She lasted two and one-third innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while walking one.
Asianna Settles started the game for Lakeland Community College. She went three innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out one and walking zero
Edison State tallied one home run on the day. Hawk had a long ball in the third inning.
Edison State racked up 15 hits. Alexis Romine, Hannah Oaks, Kacie Tackett, Mackenzie Smith, and Tori Smith all collected multiple hits for Edison State. Tackett, Oaks, and Romine each collected three hits to lead the Lady Chargers. Edison State was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Smith had the most chances in the field with four.
Lakeland Community College tallied 13 hits in the game. Abbie Tuttle, Cameron Malkamaki, and Gabriella Monastero each collected multiple hits for Lakeland Community College. Tuttle led Lakeland Community College with three hits in four at-bats.
