Mercyhurst North East Captures Lead Early to Defeat Edison State

Edison State Community College watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 2-0 loss to Mercyhurst North East on Saturday. Mercyhurst North East took the lead on a single in the second inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Mercyhurst North East pitchers struck out five, while Edison State sat down four. 

Mercyhurst North East got on the board in the second inning when Cheyenne Hindman singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. 

One bright spot for the Chargers was a single by Mackenzie Smith in the first inning. 

Hindman earned the victory on the rubber for Mercyhurst North East. She allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Alexis Romine took the loss for Edison State, allowing five hits and two runs over six innings, striking out one.

Wendy HawkHallie SnyderRayna Brownlee, and Smith each managed one hit to lead Edison State. 

Mercyhurst North East tallied five hits. Hindman and Asja Johnson all managed multiple hits for Mercyhurst North East. Mercyhurst North East didn't commit a single error in the field. Reid had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
