Five hits from Lexie Long helped lead the way for the Edison State Community College Lady Chargers over the University of Cincinnati–Clermont 23-4 on Sunday. Long doubled in the first, doubled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the sixth, and homered in the sixth.
The University of Cincinnati–Clermont scored four runs in the fifth inning, but Edison State still managed to pull out the victory. Mikayla Carpenter, Sam Beach, and Kylie Dollen Meyer all drove in runs in the frame.
In the first inning, Edison State got their offense started when Wendy Hawk doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
The Lady Chargers notched 12 runs in the sixth inning. Edison State big bats were led by Mackenzie Smith, Lexie Romine, Wendy Hawk, Kacie Tackett, Tori Smith, and Adrianna Hicks, who all drove in runs.
Danielle Cooper took the loss for the University of Cincinnati–Clermont. She lasted five innings, allowing 13 hits and 15 runs while striking out one.
