The Edison State Community College men's basketball team won on the road Sunday afternoon 82-79 as they traveled to the University of Rio Grande.
The Chargers led the Red Storm early by as many as 15 points but allowed U. of Rio Grande to narrow the gap and led by only nine at the intermission. The first 12 minutes of the second half truly proved to be a Red Storm as U. of Rio Grande scored the first eight points of the half and began building their own lead. With just over eight minutes remaining in the contest and trailing by 12, the Chargers set out on the comeback trail. The Edison State men forced 11 of the Storms' 19 turnovers during that last eight minutes and connected on two clutch free throws with nine seconds remaining to pull off the road win.
Darryl Robinson (Bowsher HS) led in the scoring and rebound column with 16 and 9 respectively. Eleven Chargers in all put points on the board this afternoon giving Edison State's men a well-balanced attack.
Edison State moves to 2-0 to start the 2017-18 campaign. Next up for the Chargers will be Cedarville University at home on Wednesday, November 8th at 7:30 p.m.
