The Edison State Men's basketball team won their third consecutive road game at Lakeland Community College Saturday afternoon 91-60.
The Chargers had lost to a home matchup to Lakeland on a 30-foot buzzer beater back on December 17th. "Those losses are hard ones to forget and I think our guys wanted to make sure they didn't relive that heartbreaking feeling," commented coach Hickman.
Leading by just 8 at the intermission 41-33, the Chargers began the second half firing on all cylinders committed to making sure their 2nd half of play didn't resemble a few others in recent memory.
"This was a true team effort tonight. Several players stepped up and contributed in a number of categories," coach Hickman said.
Hadith Tiggs (Wayne HS) led in the scoring column with 29 points on 4 of 7 from behind the arc. Zach Ledbetter (Vandalia Butler HS) scored 18 points connecting on 4 threes of his own. Dae'Shawn Jackson (Springfield HS) added 11 points and 10 assists providing a double–double on the night. Romello Yaqub (Troy HS) also added 11 points and provided solid point guard minutes. Christopher Landrum, II (Troy Christian HS) snatched 11 boards to add to his 8 points on the evening. And Nick Thompson (Miami Valley Saints) was just shy of a double double with 10 points and 9 boards.
The team is now 14-10 on the season. The Chargers will return home Wednesday, February 15 for a conference rematch with Owens Community College at 7:30 p.m.
