Chargers Lose Buzzer Beater to LCC

The Chargers lose on a heartbreaking buzzer beater tonight at home to Lakeland Community College 72-70.

Trailing by one point at intermission, Edison State went back and forth during the first 10 minutes of play in the second half. But the Lakers went on a 12 to 2 run forcing another Edison State timeout at the 8:37 mark. The chargers mounted a run down the stretch and took the lead with 26 seconds remaining.

"I thought our young men showed a lot of heart tonight and did a heck of a job defensively on that last possession forcing an off balance 30 footer, but unfortunately, it went in," commented Coach Hickman.

The 6-4 Chargers were led this afternoon by Hadith Tiggs (Wayne) scoring 18 points. Christopher Landrum, II (Troy Christian) had 12 points and 5 assists, Dae'Shawn Jackson (Springfield) and Brian Hall (Adena) both added 10 points apiece. Hall also had a double-double by snatching 10 boards in the process.

The Chargers will now be off for the duration of winter break and will compete at home again on Friday, January 6th against Miami University–Hamilton.
