Scott Jones will return to Edison State Community College as an assistant coach in the 2020 season. Jones brings many years of coaching and playing experience to the Charger baseball team.

Jones coached at Vandalia-Butler High School as the assistant coach under Miami Valley hall of fame coach, Trent Dues.

Prior to coaching for the past eight years, Scott began his baseball career at Northmont High School under Ohio hall of fame coach, Chuck Harlow. The 1991 graduate’s team held a 26-4 record and Scott was named to 1st team all-area as a senior.

Following high school success, Scott played at Miami University under coach Jon Pavlisko and current Arizona State Head Coach, Tracy Smith. As the team’s pitcher from 1992–1995, Scott threw 2 no-hitters. Scott was also active with the Lima Locos Collegiate Baseball summer league when his team won a league championship. While playing for the Locos he earned pitcher of the year and set the single-season strikeout record. In 2008, he was named to all-time Locos team. 

In 1994, Scott was drafted by the New York Yankees minor league team but chose to return to Miami University and was drafted in 1995 by the Boston Red Sox where he played from 1995-1997. During his stint with the Red Sox, Scott was named to the New York–Pennsylvania League All-Star team in 1995 and the Midwest League All-Star team in 1996.

Scott and his wife Angela reside in Englewood, Ohio. Together they have five children, Maddison, Savanna, Hannah, Sofia, and Jake.
